Event Description

A 6-week group for parents of kids 3–12: reduce stress, strengthen connection, and respond to challenges with confidence. Virtual &In-Person

Parenting a child with big emotions or challenging behaviors can be overwhelming—and responding in the moment isn’t always as simple as following the latest parenting advice. Even when we intend to stay calm and consistent, stress can take over, leaving us reacting more harshly than we’d like or struggling to balance support with clear limits. This six-week mindful parenting group will help you develop tools to stay grounded in difficult moments so you can pause and respond to your child with greater confidence, compassion, and effectiveness. Through guided mindfulness practices, group discussions, and learning about attachment and brain development, we’ll explore how to balance attunement, warmth, and connection with firm limits and clear expectations. Along the way, you’ll learn mindfulness and stress-reduction skills, building resilience to burnout with other parents who understand the challenges.

We are offering two sections of the group: Wednesdays at 8 PM (online) and Thursdays at 12 PM (in-person at 6645 W North Ave, Oak Park, IL). Start dates are TBD pending interest, so reach out! Open to parents and caregivers of children ages 3–12. Both groups will be led by Dr. Brandon Less, PsyD, a child and family therapist at Lifespan Counseling and Psychological Services. If you have any questions, you can contact Dr. Less at 708.665.6350 or by email at bless.lifespan@gmail.com.
